Drum circles for the corporate market
The term ‘drum circle’ has come to mean a group of people coming together to create an event using drumming and rhythm. These can be seasoned musicians but, more often than not, it is a way of introducing non musicians to the wonderful experience of group drumming.
The success of drum circles in the wider community quickly led to the use of this form of team activity in the corporate market for team building, meetings and conferences, and DrumPulse was one of the first companies to drive this trend.
We have witnessed a dramatic rise in the number of companies wishing to have more collaborative or creative activities for their staff, and our drum circles provide an ideal vehicle.
The icing on the corporate cake is that it is possible to engage large numbers of participants in one room.
Our drum circle sessions are led by sensitive and expert drumming instructors, who take non-musicians from being complete novices to competent drummers in a very short time.
Chairs, drums, expert facilitator and participants!
While we can use many different event formats to meet your specific requirements and to fit in with your exact timescales, here’s how a typical DrumPulse drum circle would run.
Your head facilitator will introduce the session and brief the group about the musical journey they are about to take. After explaining some of the sounds and options on your drum, the challenge of building a united orchestra begins.
Step-by-step, participants quickly learn the drumming basics. The beauty of a drum circle format is that participants learn and contribute at their own pace. This is a very important aspect to keeping everyone relaxed and engaged.
Over the duration of the drum circle session, which can take from 30 minutes up to several hours, your group becomes more focused and confident, following our expert facilitator’s lead.
Participants eventually create their very own drumming composition, which is totally unique to your particular group. We guarantee that it will provide a very powerful team and personal experience.
Your drum circle will not be a long music lesson
Our drum circles are designed to be great fun, easily accessible and an engaging experience. They are definitely not dry, drawn out or complicated music lessons.
Except for our head facilitator and the beautiful drum provided at every seat, there are no other requirements needed to create this session. No flip charts, PowerPoint slides or complicated technology are needed – just the willingness of participants to accept a new challenge.
Despite the lack of complex technology, DrumPulse drum circles provide a spectacular visual and aural display, filling the room with sounds, energy, excitement and enthusiasm.
Our drum circles have minimal requirements
Our equipment all arrives in one van, and our facilitators simply unpack the drums from their bags and place them on the seats. This can be done incredibly quickly, if needed. The larger the group, the more facilitators we bring.
Very occasionally, clients like the option of breaking into smaller groups and then reforming again. This is always possible but necessitates a separate area for each section.
In the perfect situation, there should be no table, with just chairs in concentric circles or a semi circle, depending on the room.
With groups of over 40 participants, and depending on the type of event, a microphone may be beneficial.
The unique DrumPulse approach to drum circles
The flexible formats we use within our drum circles, developed over 15 years and thousands of drum circle events worldwide, guarantee 100% success.
We have a fool-proof approach, which gently guides each group to their optimum musical conclusion while still feeling totally inspiring and organic to participants.
Our charismatic facilitators are much more than expert drummers. Their people skills, and their ability to understand what individual groups respond to, are key to winning trust and being able to lead participants beyond what they think they are capable of.
Each of our in-house facilitators is trained in subtly relating the many musical analogies to business or personal development.
